Designing and painting this mural for the YMCA Supportive Housing Campus in Des Moines, IA was a true honor—and bringing it to life with close friends made it that much more special.

This was easily my most challenging project to date. It was the biggest wall I’ve ever tackled, executed on the quickest timeline. From Friday morning to Monday afternoon, we dedicated over 100 collective hours to bring the vision to life. The design reflects that shared effort, inspired by themes of growth, transformation, and the resilience it takes to face all of life's challenges.

A project of this scale truly takes a village, and I am incredibly thankful for mine. This journey began nearly two years ago with my dear friend Nick Drahozal (Community Engagement Director), who championed this project every step of the way. It’s because of his dedication that this longtime dream of mine became a reality, and I couldn’t have done it without him.

Special thanks also go to Sherwin-Williams for the generous paint donation, the YMCA Supportive Housing Campus Board, and Shannon Swift for her incredible time and support.

But the absolute best part? The 140 residents who call this place home. Connecting and talking with them while painting brought so much joy to the weekend. It is a rare and beautiful privilege to create art and instantly connect with the community who will live with it every single day.
